There are a growing number of girls and young women in our communities that do not realise their value or worth. With 7/10 girls believing they are not good enough, it’s clear that low self-esteem is an endemic issue in society today. This disease of self-doubt leaves our teenage girls in a vulnerable position; driving many to compromise their integrity and identity in order to fit in.
Since 2009, ShineUK has been empowering young women to realise their worth and unleash their potential through the love of Jesus Christ.
"Shine changed my life. I have been a self-harmer for three years and since coming home I haven’t done it once. I still think about it when I’m stressed or upset but I know there are other ways to handle my emotions. Now when I’m sad, the first thing I do is put on a loud worship track and dance it out. That normally lifts my mood."

"This was the first time ever I went to the Shine Weekend. All the leaders and shine angels were amazing, nice, funny, supportive and just easy to get along with. The theme for this year was 'Masks' and all about how we all hide behind masks in some way even if its your personality, make-up, clothes whatever. The seminars made me aware that I hide behind many masks, hiding the amazing person God created me to be, and how I can move on from that and start to be the real me. I've realised that just because I don't look like the models in the magazine and that I don't act or fit in with everyone doesn't mean I'm strange, ugly or weird it just means I am me. God made me the way I am for a reason, I am not worthless. I went to shine with a few friends and have come back with so many. I can't thank everyone there enough!"

"Shine was amazing! It has helped me develop as a person, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It has also given my confidence a massive boost! I’m proud to be a Christian, and now, I don’t really mind what people think of me, as I now know that God is there to help me through all the tough times. I really feel that I’ve become a better person and given myself to Jesus. The weekend was one of the best weekends of my life so far because it gave me a chance to explore freedom, meet new friends and even develop a new life in Jesus in a safe and trusting environment."
